Following the visit of UNESCO evaluators to the Iranian caravanserais for review and registration in the world list, the experts of this cultural institute entered this ancient land to visit the two caravansaria of Hamedan province.
The Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Hamadan Province said in this regard: “In the next few hours UNESCO evaluators will visit the caravansaria of Tajabad and Farasfaj.”
In an interview with ISNA, Seyedeh Maryam Mokhtari-Mousavi, stating that these two historical caravansaria will be evaluated during this visit, added: “First, the evaluators will visit Farasfaj caravansaria in Tuyerkan district and then Tajabad caravansaria in Bahar district.”
With regard to the collection of a chain of cases for world registration of Iran’s caravansaria and the study of the physical features and documents of Farasfaj caravansaria of Tuyserkan district and Tajabad of Bahar district of Hamedan province, the UNESCO evaluators will visit these two historic structures.
It is worth mentioning that “Tajabad” caravanserai is one of the few circular caravanserais in Iran and the only circular caravanserai in the country’s west, located in Tajabad village of Bahar district, Hamedan province. This caravanserai was registered in the list of national monuments in 1376 with the registration number 1872. Also, Shah Abbasi Caravanserai “Farsfaj” is one of the historical and valuable structures of Tuyserkan district and a remnant of the Safavid era, which stands out among the spiritual ecosystem of Qolqol Rud plain and Farsfaj city.
UNESCO evaluators have already visited many Iranian caravanserais in different provinces.
