The beginning of the Sassanid Empire with the reign of Ardeshir Babakan
Today is the blessed day Sepoandarmaz Amshaspand, the first day of group worship in Pre-Narestaneh, the 5th of Tir in the year 3759 Zoroastrian calendar, Wednesday, the second of Tir, 1400 solar, June 23, 2021 AD.
One thousand seven hundred ninety-five years ago, on June 23, 226 AD (the second of Tir), Ardeshir Babakan was crowned as the founder of Sassanid dynasty in the fire temple of Anahid (Anahita) and became the king of Iran and revived Iranian nationalism based on the teachings of ashu Zarathustra.
The Sassanid Empire, known as Iranshahr, ruled Iran from 224 to 651 AD (427 years) before the Arabs invaded Iran. Ardeshir Babakan founded this united empire with the defeat of Ardavan V, the last Parthian emperor. After the defeat of the Fifth Army in 224 AD in the plain of Hormozdgan, he overthrew the Parthian dynasty and established the Sassanid kingdom. Ardashir then called himself “Shahanshah” and began a kingdom in a land where he called Iranshahr or “Iran.”
Ardeshir Babakan was earlier the ruler of Pars (Fars, Kerman, and Sistan) and the guardian of the fire temple of that land. Before his coronation, he overthrew the Parthian rule, which was weakened by internal corruption, and could not defeat the Romans. Ardashir, who later pushed the Romans out of the East, said in his coronation ceremony (copied the words of dariush the Great), that, upon the wish of Ahuramazda, had become the king of the Iranians, who are noble and honorable people, and who do not lie. According to some historians, Ardeshir counted the satra;pies (the divisions of the emperial lands) of his kingdom from the North Caucasus to the Indus Valley and west of the Euphrates to the Syr Darya and called Khorasan a metropolis (larger province of his kingdom). In the Sassanid inscriptions, Oman and Muscat were called part of the territory of Iran and “Mezonshahr.” Iran was also called Eranshahr or Iranshahr. Ardeshir Babakan declared the teachings of ashu Zarathustra, which was the religion of the people before cyrus the Great established the united states of Iran, as the official religion. According to some historians, Ardeshir’s goal was to commit to the implementation of ethics, in other words, to make politics lawful).
Ardeshir Babakan wanted to make Kerman the capital of Iran. Therefore, to show their satisfaction with his victory over Ardavan and his accession to the throne, the citizens named the city he built in that province “Ardeshir Vah”. This city used to be a small village that was expanded by Ardeshir Babakan and turned into a city. Over time, the name of this city gradually become “Bardsir”. Renovation of the military fort on top of a hill in Kerman, which is famous as “Ghaleh Dokhtar” (girl’s fort), and the ruins of which stand in the middle of the city, is said to be done by Ardeshir Babakan.
Sepenta Aramaiti is one of the Zoroastrian lady Izads and Amshaspand. She is the guardian of the earth and, at the same time, the manifestation of obedience, loyalty, and worship.
This word, which in Avestan is “Spenta-Ârmaiti” and is known as the name of the fourth Amshaspand, is divided into two parts “Sepenta” (Spenta) or “Sepand,” meaning clear and holy and “armaiti” (Ârmaiti), is composed of humility and patience, and together the two are pure and holy modesty. In Middle Persian (Pahlavi), this word is “Sepandarmat” (SpandÂrmat) and in Persian is “Sepandarmaz”, “Esfandarmaz”, and “Esfand”.
Sepanta Aramaiti is one of the Zoroastrian goddesses and goddesses called Spante Armiti or Spante Armiti or Sepand Aramaic in Avestan language, in Pahlavi language is called Sepandarmaz or Sepandarmat. In Persian, it is also called Sepandarmad. Amshaspand Sepandarmaz is the guardian and goddess of the green earth and a sign of fertility and childbirth.
In the Pahlavi dictionary, Sepandarmat, or Sepandarmaz, is the name of one of the Amshaspandand, and at the same time, introduced as the name of the 5th day of the month and the 12th month of the year. She is considered to be the very ancient goddess of esfand. It is said that she is accompanied by two other Amshaspands, namely Horvatat (Khordad) and Amoratat (Amordad), and these three groups of Amshaspands form the symmetry of the first three Amshaspands, namely Vahman (Vohuman or Bahman), Ashe Vahishtah (Ordibehesht) and Xshatra Vairya (Shahrivar).
This attribute is manifested in human beings with modesty, love and serving others. Sepandarmazd is the guardian of the earth and women in the world. A land gives everything it has to living beings without expectation, and women like the mother, who is kind and gentle like the earth, love without expecting a loving response. Women and earth have many similarities. Women and earth are symbols of fertility and childbirth; life and existence that flows on is from the earth and from the woman.
