Vizhdarvan Valley, one of the impressive and spectacular natural tourist attractions of Malekshahi city in Ilam province, is nationally registered
The stone walls with a height of more than one hundred meters with a diversity of plant and animal growth are one of the features of this spectacular valley. The rocks of the rocks on the canyon route are made of lime with calcium carbonate compounds. These rocks are the Asmari limestone formation. Asmari Formation is one of the geological formations in Iran.
The first reason for this natural effect is the creation of seams and cracks following the tectonic activity of the region on the thick layers of lime. The performance of the erosion phenomenon, especially dissolution, exceptional topographic condition, height difference, and steep slope of the upper and lower parts, along with other natural factors such as rainfall and the growth of various plants, have contributed to the formation of this natural effect.

The name of this valley is derived from Kurdish. In Kurdish, “vizh” means deep, and “darvan” means valley. Hence, Vizhdarvan can be considered as a deep valley with a high altitude. Also, “Viz” is known as the wind in Kurdish, so Vizidron can also be translated as a windy valley due to the abundant winds in this area. Therefore, Vizhdarvan Valley is also known as the Vizidarband area.
